135 Spanish footwear brands showcase their potential at the 100th edition of MICAM in Milan.

 

The fairground Milano-Rho hosts the 7th edition of the 9th to 100th September MICAM, the leading international footwear fair, which commemorates half a century of history. This event is a fundamental showcase for the industry, and the Federation of Spanish Footwear Industries (FICE) leads the Spanish participation, with the support of ICEX Spain Export and Investments and the regional governments.

 

In this special edition, 870 brands from 30 countries present their collections for the summer of 2026. Spain is positioned as the second country with the most exhibitors, only behind Italy, with 106 companies representing 135 brands. This figure is especially significant in a scenario of global uncertainty and recent export data not very positiveAccording to the latest reports, Spanish footwear exports fell by 2,3% in value or with a 1,4% in pairs during the first half of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.

Our SMEs are struggling to maintain competitive prices compared to other producing countries." Gómez emphasized the importance of domestic manufacturing:Manufacturing in Spain is vital for our producing regions as it means employment, tradition and future.He also made an appeal to the institutions, noting:We need a European and national framework that supports our small and medium-sized enterprises and balances competition in global markets.«.

 

Spanish participation in MICAM is dominated by the Valencian Community, which provides the 52% of exhibitors, with the province of Alicante being the most represented. It is followed by La Rioja, with 14%, and the Region of Murcia, with 8%. Catalonia, Castilla-La Mancha, Madrid, and the Balearic Islands also have a significant presence of companies, demonstrating the geographic diversity of the footwear industry in Spain.
