In the course of the year 2024, the Basque government, through the Department of Industry, Energy Transition and Sustainability, has allocated nearly 19,3 million euros to support the Capabilities through five programs and two scholarship plans. This initiative has benefited 394 companies y 582 jóvenes, thus consolidating the commitment to global economic development.
Aid aimed at facilitating the international expansion of Basque companies has reached a total of 9,1 million euros, distributed among the programs Sakondu, Zabaldu, Elkartu, Pilotu and Gauzatu International. The Sakondu programme has awarded 117 grants worth a combined €1,4 million, targeting highly internationalised micro-enterprises and startups seeking new markets.
On the other hand, Zabaldu has supported 251 projects with a total investment of 3 million, targeting micro-enterprises with less international presence. The card has provided half a million euros to support business associations in their global positioning. The Pilotu initiative has funded five innovative projects with more than 180.000 euros.
Finally, Gauzatu International has provided more than 4 million to seven companies to develop their international strategies.
Regarding the development of young Basque talent, the scholarships Global Training and Beint have been fundamental. With a joint investment of over 10 million, these scholarships have allowed young people to gain professional experience in international environments. Global Training benefited 500 young people with paid internships abroad for a total value of 6,4 million, while Beint offered specialization in foreign trade to another 82 young people, thus investing 3,7 million.
These initiatives reflect the Basque Government's ongoing efforts to integrate the Basque Country into the global economy through specialized training and strategic financial support for both businesses and future professionals.
