5th Edition of the Master's Degree in Maritime Law and Business and Port Management (Shipping Business)

The 5th edition of the Master's Degree in Maritime Law and Business and Port Management (Shipping Business) will begin next October. Taught at the Faculty of Nautical Studies of Barcelona at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, within the continuing education program of the Polytechnic Foundation of Catalonia, an institution created in 1994 to address training needs in the technological and management fields, it will last 500 hours.

The aim of the master's program is to provide students with legal specialization in the area of ​​maritime law, complemented by training on the maritime and port business, both for active professionals who want an updated and global vision of the sector, and for those who wish to start in it.



The master's program is aimed at people with degrees in Naval Engineering, Naval Technical Engineering, Law, Economics, Civil Engineering, Nautical Studies and Maritime Transport, Naval Engineering, other university graduates and also maritime professionals with more than 5 years of experience, who wish to consolidate their professional profile in the maritime-port sector by obtaining extensive knowledge of the maritime world in its entirety.

The master's program has an eminently practical structure that allows students to experience firsthand the various concepts and tools offered in the different theoretical modules that make up the program, and thus improve their level of professional development in the subjects covered.
The master's program is complemented by three important aspects: methodology, practical training, and visits to centers of interest.

Methodology of the practical case

A large part of the program is based on this type of method, which provides students with a practical analysis of all aspects of maritime transport. Real-life situations are analyzed and discussed between speakers and visitors.

Internships in companies in the sector

The Polytechnic Foundation of Catalonia offers students the possibility of carrying out internships in companies, activities in maritime law firms, shipping companies, insurance companies and others in the maritime business.

Visits to places of interest

During the course, visits are made to centers and organizations of interest in the maritime world (ports of Barcelona, ​​Tarragona, Palma, shipyards, etc.). A trip to London is also organized to visit the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the International Chambers of Shipping, the High Court, Shipbrokers, Lloyd's of London, P&I Clubs, etc.

These visits are conducted in addition to the 500 hours of the master's program. This is a highly exclusive master's program in its field, offering its students the best career prospects.
