A delegation from Moroccan government, headed by representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the World Bank in Rabat, has visited the Cádiz Free Trade Zone to learn about the operation of the incubator Blue Economy, Incubazul.
The State delegate in the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz, Fran González, received the delegation at the headquarters of the Consortium, where possible areas of future collaboration were discussed. During the meeting, the Moroccan delegates, who also included members of the Department of Maritime Fisheries, the National Agency for the Development of Aquaculture and the City of Tangier, were able to learn in detail about the Incubazul acceleration program and the more than one hundred startups that have participated in it.
“The interest that Incubazul has generated at an international level is a reflection of the consolidation of Cádiz as a benchmark in the Blue Economy,” González highlighted during the meeting, stressing that many of the incubated projects have become success stories.
The visit also included a tour of the facilities of the Cádiz Free Trade Zone, the tax precinct, and the construction of the new incubator building, which is being built with recycled shipping containers and will be its permanent headquarters.
This trip is part of a larger tour that the Moroccan delegation is undertaking Spain and Portugal, with stops at the Port of Vigo and the Ocean Forum in Lisbon“We are interested in identifying opportunities for collaboration and technology transfer to implement Morocco’s blue growth strategy,” said one of the Moroccan representatives.
The aim of the delegation is to learn from the governance, innovation and sustainable development models implemented in both countries, at a time when Morocco is seeking to boost its own blue economy as an engine of economic growth.
