ACCIONA will rehabilitate the runways of the Porto airport for 50 million euros

The works will last for 14 months

ACCIONA, the leading Spanish multinational company in renewable energy, infrastructure and water, has been selected by ANA-Aeroportos de Portugal (Vinci Airports) to carry out the rehabilitation of the runway Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport in Porto, located 12 kilometers north of the city center. The contract amounts to 50 million euros and the works will last 14 months.

 

The rehabilitation work on runway 17-35 at Porto airport includes a complete renewal of the wear layer, interventions to structurally reinforce the runway, a readjustment of the geometry of the runway strip and the approach line (luminous signaling ), and the replacement of lighting systems with state-of-the-art LED technology.

 

The renewal of the runway drainage system and the installation of civil infrastructure for the implementation of navigation equipment ILS category II They will allow operations with low visibility, improving the safety and operational efficiency of the airport.

 

This contract positions ACCIONA as a benchmark in the execution of large-scale airport infrastructure projects, while reinforcing its commitment to sustainable development and technological innovation in Portugal.

Among its most notable projects are the construction of the Terminal 4 of the Adolfo Suárez-Madrid Barajas Airport, the remodeling of the Son Sant Joan Airport-Palma de Mallorca, the new landing strip Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport and the new terminal Alicante-Elche Airport.

At an international level, ACCIONA has developed reference airport projects such as the landing strip at the Western Sydney International Airport (Nancy Bird Walton) in Australia, the control tower at the International Airport Jorge Chávez de Lima (Peru) or the expansion of Rome-Fiumicino Airport.
