Acciona Energía starts a major wind project in Canada

In the company's largest wind project in North America

The Spanish company has announced the start of construction of Forty Mile, a 280MW wind project in Forty Mile County No. 8 in Alberta, Canada.


The development of Forty Mile has been carried out by Renewable Energy Systems Canada, Inc. (RES), and its construction is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2025. It will have 49 turbines Nordex and will be the largest wind project in ACCIONA Energy in North America. The project has the potential to be expanded up to 400MW in a second phase.

Forty Mile will create up to 250 jobs during peak construction and up to 25 permanent jobs once operational. ACCIONA Energía and RES will work closely with all stakeholders, including local government bodies and landowners, to ensure that the development is carried out optimally and to maximize the positive impacts of the project on the community.

The project is part of the program of ACCIONA Energy Social Impact Management, which reinvests a portion of its annual income to support education, well-being and environmental care programs in the communities in which it operates.
