ACCIONA has secured an important contract with Sanitize, the Paraná Sanitation Company, to provide sewage services in 48 municipalities located in the western and central-eastern microregions of the Brazilian state. This public-private agreement, valued at 324 million euros, includes the construction and maintenance over the next 24 years of essential infrastructures such as sewage networks, pumping stations and wastewater treatment plants.
The main objective is to significantly increase access to adequate and equitable services for the entire local population. This effort is expected to increase the current coverage from 25% to full coverage by 2033, thereby improving not only the quality of water returned to the environment but also protecting local aquatic ecosystems.
This project is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 6, which promotes universal access to sustainable water and sanitation services. The state government aims to triple the current number of beneficiaries, reaching more than 323.800 people within a decade.
ACCIONA reaffirms its commitment to sustainable solutions and its support for the 2030 Agenda through this award. The company has been operating in the sector for more than 25 years. Brazil, having participated in emblematic projects such as Terminal 2 of Porto do Açu or significant urban transformations such as the Júlio Prestes station in São Paulo.
With this new initiative, ACCIONA continues to consolidate its position as a key player in global sustainable development, especially within the Brazilian water sector, where it already has extensive experience managing complex systems in both Rio de Janeiro and Pernambuco.
