Adif invests 4,5 million euros in the renovation of the La Negrilla freight terminal in Seville

The actions, with an investment of 4,5 million euros, consist of rail replacement and the installation of concrete sleepers and new ballast on 11 tracks, which include 2 general tracks, 3 reception and dispatch tracks, a handle track and 5 of the warehouse and warehouse area.

Adif will allocate 4,5 million euros to the renewal of the infrastructure in the freight terminal of The Bold, located in Seville. The works, which were put out to tender in December 2023 and have been awarded to the UTE Contracts and Railway Services and Ortiz Constructions and Projects, will improve the reliability, safety and regularity of railway circulation, thus promoting the transport of goods in the logistics environment of the Andalusian capital.

 

The works, which will last several months, include the replacement of the rail, the installation of concrete sleepers and new ballast on 11 tracks in the terminal. Among them are two general routes, three for reception and dispatch, one handle route and five routes in the warehouse and warehouse area.

 

Likewise, the terminal's drainage system will be renewed with the installation of a geogrid and a geotextile on a ballast sublayer, in addition to a small transverse slope towards the outside of the platform to facilitate the evacuation of water.

 

The renovation works at the La Negrilla terminal may be co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), within the framework of the operational programs of the European Union

 

The La Negrilla terminal, which occupies an area of ​​14 hectares, is a key point for the Seville freight rail traffic and its area of ​​influence. Operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the terminal has track yards, warehouses, warehouses, docks and offices, and offers maneuvering services, railway operations and cargo handling. Intermodal Transport Units (UTIs).

 

In 2023, the La Negrilla terminal managed 759 trains and handled 14.810 UTIs. Its strategic location, next to the Goods Transport Center and forming part of the Seville Railway Arterial Network, makes it a fundamental node for the transport of goods in the region.

 

The importance of the La Negrilla terminal will increase in the future with the execution of the New Railway Access to the Port of Seville. This infrastructure will allow trains to directly access the port without having to pass through the La Salud, Dos Hermanas and Utrera stations of the Cercanías network, streamlining operations and reducing costs.

 

The renovation of the La Negrilla terminal is part of Adif's commitment to sustainable development. The action contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9, that seeks to develop reliable, sustainable, resilient and quality infrastructures.
