The presence of Algeciras with a cost The presence of its own products at Agrofest responds to the growing importance of import and export traffic at the port, which has seen continuous growth. Particularly noteworthy are perishable products such as avocados and grapes out of season in Spain, which have driven this increase.
So far this year, the refrigerated goods in containers from Peru has experienced an increase of more than 36 %, consolidating this country as the trading partner with the greatest growth for the Port of Algeciras in the first four months of the year. The long-term perspective is even more revealing: between 2019 and 2024, the growth of the containers reefer import and export between Algeciras and Peru has reached an impressive 80 %.
The delegation of the Port of Algeciras, in addition to having those responsible for the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA), includes representatives of leading companies in the logistics and foreign trade sectors such as A Perez y Cía, Bolipesk, ECS 360 Logistic, Euro Transit Maghreb SL, Logistika 360, Transsur and UCC Logitics Spain. Their participation has been made possible thanks to the support of the Chamber of Commerce, through the Global SME Program, co-financed by FEDER and the Provincial Council.
Prior to the opening of Agrofest, an advance party from the Algeciras delegation held a meeting with the Economic and Commercial Counselor of Spain in Lima, Isabela Delgado, and with market analysts from the embassy. During this meeting, bilateral trade relations and expectations for future development between Spain and Peru were discussed in depth.
