Andalucía TRADE expands the Andalusian agri-food market in Australia, a country with an economy worth more than €78.000 billion.

 

Andalucía TRADE-Agency for Economic Transformation and Development, has promoted the presence of six Andalusian agri-food companies in Australia, a market valued at over €78.000 billion. This initiative is part of the market diversification strategy of the agency, which seeks to open new horizons for Andalusian exports beyond Europe and america.

 

The trade mission has focused on the 41st edition of the Fine Food fair en Sydney, the most important event in the sector in Australia, where Andalusian companies held nearly thirty business meetings. The agenda was complemented by a dozen meetings in the city of Melbourne, managed by the Antenna of the Andalusian TRADE International Network in Sydney, which has provided direct support to the delegation.

 

This effort to penetrate the Australian market is aligned with the growth experienced by the Andalusian agri-food sector. According to the agency's own data, by the first half of 2025, the region will have established itself as a national leader in food and beverage exports, with record sales of 9.250 billion euros, representing 22,9% of the Spanish total. This success is based on a year-on-year growth of 3,1%, with Almería standing out as the province with the highest sales volume and growth.

The Andalusia TRADE report identifies Australia as a market with a high potential for the region's products. Its population of 27 million inhabitants, with high purchasing power, values ​​the relationship price quality of Andalusian products, especially those with characteristics , methodologies and high quality. The cultural diversity of the country drives the demand for ethnic food, a segment in rapid expansion.

 

Among the Andalusian products that are already present in Australia they highlight the olive oil, olives, pork products, cereal preparations, and fish. However, the agency highlights the growth opportunity in categories such as food. vegan, ecological, gluten-free and regional specialties. To be successful in this market, the key is differentiation, betting on products premium with sustainable packaging or ecological certifications.

 

At the sales level by province, Almeria leads the ranking with 2.639 billion euros, followed by Seville (2.062 billion), Huelva (1.548 billion), and Malaga (858 million). The rest of the Andalusian provinces have also contributed to the record exports, with Cordoba (790 million), Granada (579 million), Cadiz (520 million) and Jaen (253 million), demonstrating the strength of the sector throughout the region.

 

As for destinations, Andalusian food and drinks arrived at 168 countries, with Germany, (1.759 million euros), France (1.091 billion) and Italy (900 million) as main markets, all with notable growth in the first half of 2025.
