Andalusian exports to America recorded during the first five months of 2023, the historical record figure of 2.135 million euros, with an increase of 9,2% in sales over the same period of 2022, in a continental destination driven by the great growth of countries such as Brazil or Chile, who double their purchases of Andalusian products.
Likewise, according to the data of Andalusia TRADE, America It is the continent that grows the most from January to May in 2023, with sales that represent 12,4% of the world total sold by Andalucía (17.117 million), an especially positive increase in South America with an increase of 76% to reach 452 million; and in Central America and Caribbean, with an increase of 13,4% and 251 million euros.
United States It is the first destination for Andalusian sales, since it concentrates two thirds of the region's exports to this continent (62%), and the greatest advances occur in industrial chapters such as foundry, iron and steel manufactures (+268% ) and in aeronautics (+120%). With these figures, Andalusia is positioned as the third exporting community in Spain, with 12,2% of the total national invoice, only ahead of Catalonia (28,7%) and the Valencian Community (13,9%).
Andalusian sales to the American continent in this period are led by 3.474 exporting companies. Of them, more than a third, 1.273, are regular exporters, that is, they have been exporting continuously for more than four years.
In just the first five months of 2023, 83% of all regular exporters that operated throughout the entire year of 2022 have already registered, a fact that shows the competitive and business capacity of Andalusian firms in the american market, and which confirms that they are consolidated in this destination.
In this context, Andalucía TRADE - Business Agency for Economic Transformation and Development, continues its market diversification strategy with programming aimed at various American countries, and has carried out a total of 2023 actions during the first half of 252 to 702 Andalusian companies, the equivalent of 55% of the regular exporters, which have generated up to 1.190 participations in the different activities programmed with the target market America.
More than 270 stocks in 2023
In the first half of the year, actions as relevant as participation in the fair have been carried out Summer Fancy Food in New York, the XIV Business Meeting Within the framework of Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, celebrated on Dominican Republic; or the commercial mission to Mexican state of Baja California to promote the auxiliary industry of Andalusian agriculture; as well as other similar business meetings held in countries such as Ecuador or Chile.
Andalucía TRADE maintains a work agenda for the coming months in order to promote the Andalusian companies in the American market. In this sense, a total of 33 actions are scheduled, and other consulting activities will be held that are managed upon request from interested companies.
Specifically, a total of 11 direct missions to Colombia, USA, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Canada, Argentina, Peru, Chile and Dominican Republic, on sectors such as agri-food, the auxiliary industry of agriculture, renewable energy, logistics and Spanish teaching.

Likewise, American buyers and importers will be attracted to Andalusia through commercial meetings, with the aim of exhibiting the potential of the region and developing business opportunities for Andalusian companies that will be able to show their know-how and experience in the field. On the other hand, a total of 14 conferences on market niches will also be held in destinations such as Peru, Costa Rica, Chile, Canada, Colombia, Brazil and the United States.
The US leads and Brazil is more interested in sales growth
According to reports from the Andalusian agency, in the months from January to May 2023, sales have grown in 7 of the top 10 destinations, which confirms the progress of the continent. The United States maintains its leadership in this period, and concentrates 62% of sales, with exports of 1.321 million euros, despite a slight decrease of 3,3%; while, on the other hand, growth in markets of South America and Central America.
Specifically, Argentina (6th) experiences the best increase of the top ten markets, with more than double sales and an increase in the invoice of 148% that adds up to a total of 53 million euros in exports; follows Chile (5th), with the second best growth, doubling its bill, thanks to a 120% increase in sales; and Brazil, the second destination in exports, with 224 million euros, 10,5% of the total and the third best growth, with an increase of 95%, practically double. And the country that contributes the most to sales growth with 5,6%.
Moreover, Mexico becomes the third market, with 148 million, 6,9% of the total and an increase of 22,3%; followed by to Canada (4th), with 112 million, 5,2% of sales and an increase of 0,4%. In seventh place is Colombia, with 42 million, 1,9% and a decrease of 3%; followed by Dominican Republic, with 26,9 million, 1,3%, despite a decrease in the bill of 17,7%; Cuba, with 19,2 million, and an increase of 62%; and the Malvinas Islands, with 16,9 million, which joins the ranking, after not registering any purchases from the region throughout 2022.
Cádiz leads and Huelva grows the most
The province of Cádiz becomes the largest exporter in this period in America, with sales of 511 million euros, and concentrates 23,9% of the total Andalucía, with a growth of 3%. Seville follows, with 464 million, 21,7% of the total bill and the third best growth of the provinces, with an increase of 12,8%; Huelva, with exports of 378 million, 17,7% and the best increase with an increase of 43%.
