Andalusian renewable companies hold more than 50 business meetings with Argentine firms

The Ministry of Economy and Knowledge organized a trade mission to Argentina, where it is planned to increase the consumption of renewable energy from 2% to 20% by 2020.

A total of five Andalusian renewable energy companies have held more than fifty meetings with Argentine firms of the sector with the aim of exploring new lines of business. The meetings took place within the framework of a trade mission organized by Ministry of Economy and Knowledgethrough Extenda-Andalusian Foreign Promotion Agency, between March 28 and 30 in Buenos Aires, Argentina).

 

Through this mission, the first promoted by Extend to Argentina for the sector of renewable energy, Andalusian companies They have achieved a better knowledge of the Argentine market and more specifically of the renewable energy industry, very useful information to identify business opportunities. Likewise, during the visit they have come into contact with potential clients, partners and suppliers with whom to execute new projects.

 

In this sense, the firms that have participated in this action have developed an agenda of individualized interviews, organized with the collaboration of the ICEX - Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade and Commercial Office of the Spanish Embassy in Buenos Aires, with the main awardee companies and participants in the government program tenders Renew, like the state company JEMSE, or the signatures Pampa Energía and Latin American Energy.

 

The Andalusian companies that have joined this commercial mission are the sevillanas Elmya, Ghenova Engineering, Idea Energía and Prodiel; and Negratín Energy, from the province of Granada. Extenda's participation in this event may be 80% co-financed with funds from the European Union, charged to FEDER Operational Program of Andalusia 2014-2020.

 

 

 

Through this mission, the first promoted by Extenda to Argentina for the renewable energy sector, Andalusian companies have achieved a better knowledge of the Argentine market and more specifically of the renewable energy industry.

 

 

 

Renewable energies in Argentina

 

According to data from Extenda, Argentina represents a market of great interest for renewable energy companies in Andalucía, since it is an expanding sector that currently represents 2% of the country's energy matrix, which places it in fourth place in the region in terms of installed power, behind Brazil, Chile and Uruguay.

 

With the aim of increasing this share, the renewable energy regime in the Argentine market establishes a series of tax benefits and guarantee systems with the objective that by December 2017, 8% of the energy consumed comes from renewable sources, as well as objectives for successive years until reaching 20% ​​in 2025.

 

To achieve the objectives, a series of actions are being carried out. tenders which will add 10.000 megawatts of energy from renewable sources. As of December 2015, the Wholesale Electricity Market It has a power of around 32.500 megawatts installed in the Latin American country, which generated 142 terawatts/hour for a total demand of 132.

 

The main problems detected are the insufficiency of the system to meet the demand peaks during the winter and summer months, the lack of investment in the distribution network, especially in the city of Buenos Aires and its metropolitan area (concentrates 40% of the demand), and dependence on fossil fuels.

 

In this sense, the commitment to renewables seeks to contribute to the environment, increase the installed power and diversify the matrix, but also reduce exposure to hydrocarbon prices, reduce imports of energy and generate new investments, which also imply inflow of capital and generation of employment.
