Arteris Intervias has been awarded the Environmental Operating License (LO) by the Environmental Company of the State of São Paulo (Cetesb), marking a significant milestone for the concessionaire. This achievement not only underlines Arteris Intervias' commitment to compliance with environmental regulations, but also highlights its leadership in the sector.
Vincent de Almeida Sampaio, environmental analyst at Arteris Intervias, said: “Being one of the first concessionaires selected to begin the process of obtaining the LO reinforces not only our commitment to environmental excellence, but also highlights the trust and mutual respect built with the environmental agency.”
Board Decision No. 022/2024/I sets a precedent in the granting of environmental licenses for highways in São Paulo, promoting greater uniformity in the obligations that concessionaires must comply with before environmental authorities. Solange Carneiro, an environmental specialist at Arteris, explained: “The result goes beyond the document; it is the fruit of collaborative work between the environmental agency and the highway concessionaires, represented by ABCR.”
The license is valid for five years and includes both environmental and social benefits already implemented by Arteris Intervias. These include road adaptations to protect wildlife and significant efforts in environmental conservation and biodiversity, all geared toward sustainable development of the managed section.
This news reflects how Arteris Intervias continues to move towards a more sustainable future while strengthening its relationships with regulatory entities and reaffirming its role as a responsible leader within the Brazilian road sector.
