Asturias shines at the Mobile World Congress, a paradise for technological entrepreneurship

El Mobile World Congress, the world's leading event in mobile technology, has opened its doors and Asturias has taken the opportunity to show its commitment to innovation. The Department of Science, Business, Training and Employment, in collaboration with Asturex, the European Centre for Enterprise and Innovation (BIC) and the Regional Promotion Society (SRP), has set up a stand in the 4 Years From Now space (4YFN), the epicenter of startups within the congress.

"This forum is an excellent opportunity to establish contacts and future business synergies," he stated. Ivan Aitor Lucas, Deputy Minister of Science, Innovation, Research and Digital Transformation. Lucas, who heads the Asturian delegation, highlighted the importance of giving visibility to the community's technology-based companies at an event that brings together nearly one hundred thousand visitors.

With its own stand and a delegation of eleven innovative companies, Asturias seeks to attract investors and talent, promoting its support programs and the potential of its startups.

Asturias not only seeks to showcase its projects, but also to promote its entrepreneurship support programs. One of the pillars of this strategy is the Asturias Investor's Daywhich this year celebrates its tenth anniversary under the slogan "Asturias Startup Paradise". "This event has managed to attract 540 investors and 443 emerging companies in previous editions," explained Javier Fernández, general manager of Digital Strategy and Artificial Intelligence, highlighting the success of this initiative that serves as a meeting point between investors and startups.

La Capabilities is another of the axes of the Asturian strategy. Asturex, the Principality's foreign promotion company, is present at the MWC to publicize its program of Quick Global Acceleratorwhich supports the international expansion of entrepreneurial projects from their initial stages. "We want our startups to have a global vision from the beginning," stated Bruno López, director of Asturex.

Furthermore, the SRP recently launched the Asturias Startup Fund, a financial instrument that has already approved €1.855.000 for 20 innovative projects. "This fund has generated an induced investment of €9,6 million and the creation of 227 jobs in two years," explained Luis González, director of Gitpa, highlighting the positive impact of this initiative on the regional economy.

The Asturian stand at 4YFN has become a meeting point for entrepreneurs, investors and representatives from other regions. The eleven companies accompanying the Asturian delegation are presenting their projects in various areas of digital technologies, from artificial intelligence to the Internet of Things.

"Asturias has a vibrant and constantly growing entrepreneurial ecosystem," concluded Deputy Minister Lucas, inviting MWC attendees to learn more about the region's potential.
