Ayesa Engineering will oversee a key section of the Alameda-Melipilla mega-rail project in Chile.

Spanish engineering Ayesa will play a fundamental role in one of the largest railway projects in the history of ChileThe company participates in the ADI Consortium, which has been awarded by the Chilean state railway company (EFE) to supervise the section Melipilla-Malloco of the long-awaited Alameda-Melipilla commuter train. This project, with an estimated investment of $1.887 billion, is consolidated as the largest tender ever undertaken by the state-owned railway company.

The supervision contract, valued at €18,6 million, corresponds to one of three sections of the ambitious initiative that seeks to transform connectivity between Greater Santiago and the city of Melipilla, located 61 kilometers west of the capital. The implementation of this commuter train promises to significantly reduce travel times, with estimated savings of up to two hours per day for users. It is expected to benefit more than 57 million people annually, offering a faster and safer transportation system.

Under the umbrella of the ADI Consortium, where it participates with 40% together with DRS (40%) and ILF (20%), Ayesa will specifically supervise the Melipilla-Malloco section, which extends over 35,9 kilometers and crosses the communes of Melipilla, El Monte, Talagante and PeñaflorOn this route, which will have tracks for both passengers and freight, four new stations will be built, in addition to workshops, garages and the important vehicular passages. The Sotillo and Los Pajaritos, in Peñaflor.

The scope of the construction supervision contract includes document administration and control, management of the technical office, on-site technical inspection, quality and efficiency control, as well as comprehensive support for project management. The implementation of the methodology BIM (Building Information Modelling) will allow effective control and monitoring of each stage of construction.

Once fully operational, the Alameda-Melipilla train will feature a fleet of 22 high-standard, fully electric trains with capacity to carry up to 807 passengers per unit, reaching a maximum speed of 140 kilometers per hour. The project includes the construction of 11 stations, the construction of five tracks (three for passengers and two for freight), and the crucial connection to Lines 1 and 6 of the Santiago Metro.

Participation in this project consolidates Ayesa's solid track record in the Latin American railway sector, where it has contributed its experience in planning, design, management and supervision of important initiatives in countries such as Colombia, Mexico, Panama, Ecuador, Peru and the Dominican Republic.
