SIL 2025 , organized by the Barcelona Free Trade Zone Consortium (CZFB) , brings together the entire supply chain until June 20th in Hall 8 of the Plaza España-Montjuïc venue at Fira de Barcelona . The opening ceremony was attended by the Secretary of State for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, José Antonio Santano, accompanied by the Secretary General of the Department of Territory, Housing and Economic Transition of the Government of Catalonia, Jordi Terrades; the Deputy Mayor of Barcelona, Jordi Valls; the Government Delegate in Catalonia, Carlos Prieto; the Special State Delegate to the Barcelona Free Trade Zone Consortium, Pere Navarro; and the Director General of the CZFB, Blanca Sorigué.
During the opening ceremony, authorities emphasized the essential role of the logistics sector in ensuring the timely delivery of goods and its direct impact on business competitiveness. José Antonio Santano, Secretary of State for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, stated: “SIL is the leading trade fair in Spain and Europe for the logistics and transport sector. It is also a window to innovation, with the SILvIA virtual platform as a prime example. We have railways, ports, roads, and airports, and we must all work together. Logistics and transport play a vital role in our economy, and it is a sector that is constantly evolving and demonstrating resilience. Its influence on the competitiveness of the entire business fabric is undeniable. In this respect, Spain is uniquely positioned to lead the transformation of logistics and the fight against climate change by strengthening more sustainable mobility.”

For his part, Pere Navarro , Special State Delegate to the CZFB and President of SIL, emphasized: “We celebrate SIL as a participatory, transparent space, open to sharing solutions that improve the lives of society as a whole. Logistics is key. The world moves thanks to logistics. And this year, we want to highlight that logistics doesn't just happen during the three days of SIL: logistics is every day, even if it's not always highlighted. It's only noticed when it doesn't work, but in reality, it always works. Because there's talent behind it, because there's innovation, because there are companies that ensure everything arrives when it needs to and is truly required.”
Blanca Sorigué , CEO of the CZFB and SIL, emphasized that “SIL is much more than an internationally renowned trade fair; it is the annual meeting point for the sector, where the entire supply chain is represented. At the CZFB, we are very proud to continue promoting a sector as essential to the economy and to people as logistics. For us, SIL Barcelona is and will continue to be a strategic commitment.”
Artificial Intelligence as the Protagonist of Innovation
Under the theme ' Connecting Worlds to Drive Innovation ', this year's SIL has focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI) . The 650 participating companies , 30% of which are international, are showcasing 163 world-exclusive innovations. This year, SIL 2025 has implemented the SIL Virtual AI Platform (SILvIA) , a digital platform offering advanced features such as a smart calendar and a virtual assistant, significantly enhancing the experience for both attendees and exhibiting companies.
Key Sector Conferences and Studies
SIL 2025 also hosts several highly relevant industry events. Today saw the opening of Meda Logistics Week , the Mediterranean logistics summit, organized by the Association of Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce (ASCAME) and the CZFB. Anwar Zibaoui, ASCAME's general coordinator, noted: “The 21st edition of Meda Logistics is taking place at a time of profound transformations in global trade . Geopolitics has become a determining factor in economic decisions, with rising tensions between the United States and China , challenges to multilateral agreements, and protracted conflicts in Ukraine, Gaza, and the Red Sea, now compounded by the war between Israel and Iran. Despite this complex scenario, trade flows continue to grow. We are not witnessing deglobalization, but rather a reconfiguration of international trade towards greater regionalization. Supply chains are evolving: they are shortening, becoming more resilient, and adopting a more responsible and sustainable approach.”
Francisco Aranda, president of the Business Organization for Logistics and Transport (UNO), also presented the First Report on Logistics Competitiveness and its Autonomous Communities , highlighting that “Catalonia is positioned as the second most competitive region in Spain in logistics. This leadership is due to its solid business fabric, its great capacity for innovation, its significant infrastructure, its more than twelve logistics hubs, and its privileged geostrategic location, which make it a key connection point for inbound and outbound marketplaces between Europe, Asia, and Africa.” Aranda stressed the need to free up new logistics land , reduce tax burdens , and establish a stable regulatory framework to boost growth. He also emphasized the digital transformation of the sector: “We are moving from manual labor to intellectual labor, which requires a profound metamorphosis of the existing training in the market.”
The QUO VADIS conference 'Multimodal Terminals: the strategic plan for terminals in Catalonia' was also held , as well as the presentation of the White Paper on Logistics Real Estate in Catalonia 2025 by the Official College of Industrial Engineers of Catalonia.
TECH by SIL and Logistics Night
A new feature of this edition is ' Events by SIL ', with TECH by SIL offering sessions on the latest trends and advantages of including 4.0 technologies in logistics processes.
Finally, tonight will see the Nit de la Logística (Logistics Night) , the sector's gala dinner where the SIL 2025 Awards will be presented in various categories, with the presence of the Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, among other prominent figures.
