The ninth edition of Spain-China Forum, organized in Pekin awarded by the Spain China Council Foundation and Association for the Friendship of Chinese People with Abroad, has brought together 400 participants from administrations, companies, universities and think tanks from both countries.
The President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, opened the event, highlighting the importance of civil society in modern diplomacy: “21st century diplomacy is not only a matter for governments, it also involves companies, cities, regions, universities, think tanks, foundations and, of course, all citizens.” Sánchez highlighted the value of this dialogue to strengthen relations between Spain and China.
The Spain China Council Foundation and the Association for Friendship between Chinese People and Foreign Countries have agreed to hold the tenth edition of the Forum in Spain, on a date and venue yet to be determined.
Francisco J. Riberas, The Spanish co-chair of the Forum emphasized the importance of dialogue in addressing shared challenges, stating that "the Forum is the perfect space to open up the channels and networks needed to bring forth business and social opportunities."
The event included three discussion sessions focused on local cooperation, cultural and tourism exchanges, and sustainable development and innovation, with the participation of institutions such as the Barcelona's town hall, the University of Zaragoza, ESADE, and companies like Garrigues, Tecnalia and Técnicas ReunidasTomorrow, the Spanish delegation will visit the Xiong'An New Area, an urban project based on sustainability and innovation. The tenth edition of the Forum will be held in Spain on a date yet to be determined.
