The agreement signed in February between AP Moller Capital y Bergé and Company has been formalized with the entry of the investment firm into the shareholding of BERGÉ, assuming a share of the 51 % in the company. This transaction, which has been approved by port and competition authorities since last July, marks the beginning of a new era for the port operator.
The strategic alliance's main objective is to promote the plans of organic and inorganic growth de BERGÉ, consolidating its position in the multipurpose port sector in Iberia and Latin AmericaThe operation is based on the combination of the industrial experience Bergé and Company, with more than 150 years of history, and the financial strength and AP Moller Capital’s sector knowledge.
With the formalization of the transaction, changes to the company's governance structure have been announced. Joe Nielsen, from AP Moller Capital, has been appointed non-executive chairman de BERGÉWhile Jaime Gorbeña, by Bergé and Company, will occupy the non-executive vice-presidency. For its part, John Aguirre will retain his position as CEO Company.
Both partners have reaffirmed their long-term commitment to the development of BERGÉ and have agreed to carry out significant investments to strengthen its leadership in port infrastructure and logistics. The goal is to effectively respond to the sector's growing demand and consolidate the company's market position.
