José Luis Bonet inaugurates the Álava Internationalization Awards: "Basque companies, an example of innovation and branding"

Alava companies have great export potential

The president of the Chamber of Spain, José Luis Bonet, has inaugurated the XXXVIII edition of the Internationalization Awards of the Chamber of Álava, an event that recognizes the work of Basque companies in their expansion to global markets.

In his inaugural address, Bonet emphasized the importance of internationalization for Spanish businesses. "In 1975, exports represented 11% of GDP; today they account for more than 42%," he stated. "Behind these figures are thousands of companies that have worked to innovate and offer a differentiated, high-quality product or service. In short, they have strived for excellence to carve out a niche among the many competitors operating in global markets," he added.

 

The president of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce also emphasized that internationalization "must be driven by branding, innovation, quality, and added value." "We are living through turbulent geopolitical times, but as businesspeople, it is up to us to turn risks into opportunities and go all in. Throughout my business career, like many of you, I have faced situations of great international tension, and I have not backed down. We must pursue this, prudently, yes, but without discouragement," he concluded.

 

The Internationalization Awards of the Álava Chamber are a benchmark in recognizing the work of Basque companies in their commitment to internationalization

 

During the awards ceremony, the president of the Álava Chamber of Commerce, Gregorio Rojo, highlighted the export potential of Álava's business sector. "Basque companies are an example of innovation, branding, and a commitment to quality," he noted. Rojo also presented the Álava Ambassador Medal to businessman Félix Lascaray Zugaza , president of Lascaray, in recognition of his international career.

 

In this edition of the Internationalization Awards of the Álava Chamber, the work of four companies has been recognized:

 

• Wineries of the Heirs of the Marquis of Riscal: Award for the Large Exporting Company.
• Vidrala: Award for Medium Exporting Company.
• Abiega Electromechanics: Small Exporting Company Award.
• Mercedes-Benz Spain: International Lifetime Achievement Award.
