Companies based in Bucharest recorded an international trade turnover of over €40.000 billion during the first eight months of 2024, representing 28% of Romania's foreign trade and placing the capital at the top of the national ranking.
According to a press release issued by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bucharest (CCIB), based on statistical data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS) on the evolution of Romania's trade exchanges, companies from Bucharest are followed by the counties of Ilfov (8%), Timis (7,7%), Arges (5%), Brasov (4%) and Cluj (3,6%).
These data reflect the dynamics and competitiveness of Bucharest companies in the global market.
During the same period, companies from Bucharest exported goods worth €12.100 billion, which is equivalent to 19,8% of Romania's total exports. The main exported products were electrical machinery and equipment (26,4%), plant products (15,8%) and mineral products (14,4%).
imports, companies based in Bucharest accounted for €28.000 billion, representing a 34,1% share of Romania's imports between 1 January and 31 August 2024. Imports were concentrated in electrical machinery and equipment (22,3%), chemical industry products (17,1%) and mineral products (10,7%).
