Canarian studio Quantum Box signs a multi-million-dollar deal with Japanese company Route24

 

In an unprecedented move, Quantum Box, a video game studio based in Gran Canaria, has signed a contract worth 2 million euros with the Japanese studio Route24The collaboration focuses on the creation of new intellectual property (IP) that will be shared between both studios.

 

The Deputy Minister of the Presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands and President of Proexca, Alfonso Cabello, was present during the official signing of the agreement held this Monday in Gran Canaria. Representatives of the Japanese studio are visiting the islands this week to begin the first meetings of the project and explore local opportunities. Cabello stressed that this agreement is “good news” within the ongoing effort to diversify the Canarian economy, especially since the audiovisual and video game sector was declared strategic by the Canarian Executive.

 

 

This historic agreement reinforces the globally competitive strategic position that the Canary Islands aspire to achieve within the dynamic world of interactive digital development.

 

 

 

“Today, one of the main international companies has chosen a company from the Canary Islands to try to develop an important contract that will help us continue working on the idea of ​​the Canary Islands as a hub for the video game and audiovisual sectors.”, Cabello stressed. He also highlighted the strategic importance of positioning Canary Islands as an international focal point for innovative projects.

 

For its part, Amina Abdien, CEO of Quantum Box Games, expressed his enthusiasm for this unique opportunity not only for his company but also for the growth of the sector in the Canary Islands. “Obviously, we are not a world power like the Asians in the video game sector, but the foundations are being laid thanks to the efforts of the administrations. It is just a matter of time before we take off.”, Abdien said, and announced plans to soon launch a round of financing aimed at consolidating his project in the long term.

 

Route24 is led by Kenichi Nishi, a veteran developer known for his work on iconic titles such as Super Mario RPG and Chrono Trigger under the Final Fantasy franchise. Joining him will be Keita Eto, another prominent former member of the Square Enix team. Both will bring their vast experience to the new project titled “Kiriko the Mistic”, focused on the JRPG (Japanese Role-Playing Game) genre, where both are recognized experts.
