This new tool seeks to streamline the processing and support of investment initiatives, combating the bureaucracy that often discourages investors.
The decision, approved on June 9, responds to the need to diversify the Canary Islands economy beyond tourism. The Deputy Minister of the Presidency and President of Proexca, Alfonso Cabello, explained that the office is crucial for projects to maintain the interest of the investors, by offering an agile and coordinated response.
This new structure will focus on cutting-edge sectors such as animation, video games, audiovisuals, and aerospace, which are already positioning the Canary Islands as a center of innovation. With an initial allocation of €1,1 million for the next two years, the office will have a specialized team for its functions.
Among his responsibilities, highlighted by David Perez-DionisThe Director General of Organizational Coordination and Strategic Projects will be responsible for identifying opportunities, managing risks, and securing funding. The office will also facilitate ongoing project monitoring, coordination between public and private stakeholders, and offer "soft landing" services to international companies wishing to establish themselves in the islands.
The new office complements other government initiatives, such as the expansion of Proexca's foreign network, and reinforces the message that the Canary Islands are an attractive destination for future projects with clear competitive advantages and a strong public commitment. The goal is to consolidate the archipelago as a hub of innovation and sustainable growth.
