El Canary Islands Government, through the Vice-Ministry of Economy and Internationalization and Proexca, start a trade mission in Canada with the aim of presenting companies in the country's audiovisual sector the opportunities that the Canary Islands offer for their development.

The Canary Islands delegation, headed by Vice-Minister Gustavo González de Vega and the Executive CEO of Proexca, Pablo Martin Carbajal, will hold meetings with nearly 65 Canadian companies in Montreal and Toronto. The main objective is to establish collaboration ties and explore possibilities for co-productions, taking advantage of the attractive fiscal framework that the archipelago offers for companies in the sector.

The Canary Islands have an audiovisual ecosystem in full development, with highly qualified professionals, modern infrastructure and a unique natural environment that makes them an ideal filming set. In addition, the Government of the Canary Islands has implemented various measures to support the sector, such as Canary Islands Film Plan, which offers tax incentives to audiovisual productions carried out in the archipelago.

The Canary Islands consider that Canada is a key strategic partner for the development of its audiovisual industry

The North American country has a mature audiovisual industry with great international prestige, which makes it an ideal market for the promotion of Canarian productions.

The trade mission will begin in Montreal with a work and networking breakfast at the Ritz hotel, which will be attended by representatives from the region of Quebec and about 25 companies. Subsequently, the delegation will travel to Toronto to meet with local authorities and around 40 companies interested in the Canary Islands audiovisual sector. The meeting will take place at the Sheraton Downtown hotel and will include a presentation and a networking session.

The trade mission is supported by the ambassador of Spain in Canada, Alfredo Martínez Serrano, who will serve as host of the Canarian delegation. Furthermore, the Audiovisual Cluster of the Canary Islands will participate in the meetings electronically.

This commercial mission is part of the strategy to strengthen the audiovisual sector of the Canary Islands, which also includes video games, real image and animation. The objective of the Government of the Canary Islands is to turn the Islands into an international benchmark in audiovisual production and generate new business opportunities for companies in the sector.
