The Minister of Economy, Commerce and Business, Charles Body, closed the General Assembly of UN, the Spanish Logistics and Transport Business Organization. The event, which brought together more than 100 industry leaders at the CEOE headquarters and was sponsored by Mercedes-Benz Spain, addressed the main economic and regulatory challenges impacting logistics activity, with the goal of identifying urgent needs to strengthen its competitiveness.
During his address, Minister Cuerpo emphasized the "strategic importance to the economy" of the logistics sector, highlighting its "strength and adaptability." In a dialogue with UNO members, the Minister of Economy referred to crucial challenges such as "competitiveness and productivity." He also proposed maintaining "an open channel of communication to exchange information, with the aim of identifying barriers to business growth and addressing them within the framework of the initiative." For his part, the president of UNO, Francis ArandaAranda thanked the minister for his presence and stressed the importance of a stable economic environment. "It is essential that the government implement a stable economic policy that provides legal certainty and fosters the sustainable growth of this strategic sector, which has positioned itself as the third largest job creator in the last year."
Aranda also expressed his concern about the trade policy proposed by TrumpHe warned that "these strategies hinder trade, fuel inflation, and reduce household consumption." He proposed as a priority "alleviating the burden that a potential increase in costs resulting from new tariffs would represent" and, in that case, "reducing companies' operating costs should become a strategic objective, as should the search for alternative markets."
On fiscal areaThe president of UNO urged progress in reducing social security contributions, which in Spain remain among the highest in Europe, arguing that "an excessive tax burden limits economic activity." Regarding labor issues, he conveyed the sector's concern about measures implemented "outside of social dialogue" and insisted on the need for greater flexibility to adapt to market fluctuations.
Aranda endorsed the minister's 'Regime 20' initiative, noting that "by promoting the creation of a common regulatory framework for all of Spain, companies are being automatically injected with competitiveness."
