The Minister of Economy, Business and Employment, Patricia Franco, highlighted the "strength of the business sector" in the region, which consolidates Castilla-La Mancha as the fourth autonomous community in the country with the best performance in foreign sales in August.
This growth in August reinforces a positive trend during the first eight months of the year. Cumulative exports from January to August now exceed 7.355,7 millones de euros, which represents the highest figure ever recorded for this period and an increase of 6,9 %, a rate significantly above the national average (0,3%). The region remains the fourth with the highest cumulative year-over-year growth in the country.
Minister Franco emphasized that this dynamism is occurring in a context of international uncertainty and tensions in foreign trade, which demonstrates the robustness and international projection of Castilian-Manchegan companies.
Key Sectors and Provinces
The main export items led the August figures. The export sector Alimentation and drinks, although it registered a slight year-on-year fall of 2,7%, remained the main driver with 292,5 millones de euros, representing 35,2% of the total. They were followed by equipment goods, which reached 175,5 millones de euros with solid growth of 15,1%, and the Chemicals, which showed the greatest growth among the large items with a 22,3 %, totaling 128,8 million euros.
At the provincial level, the behavior was uneven. Toledo led the growth with an increase of nearly 10 % and 294,4 million euros in exports. This was followed by Guadalajara, with an increase of 5% and 215,9 million euros, and Ciudad Real , which grew a 0,8 % to 165,9 million. Meanwhile, Albacete (-0,8%) and Cuenca (-12,6%) recorded declines.
