STRATEGIC INVESTMENT AND INDUSTRIAL INTERNATIONALIZATION
The transaction, channeled through the Foreign Investment Fund (FIEX), grants the entity a 30% stake in the renewable energy subsidiary. The funds will be used to build new facilities in A Coruña to manufacture fixed and floating structures for international markets.
The renewable energy sector and Spain's export capacity are receiving significant financial backing. COFIDES has formalized a strategic agreement with the Amper Group , through which it will invest €20 million in WindWaves , its subsidiary specializing in offshore wind energy . The transaction, carried out through a capital increase using funds from the Fund for Investments Abroad (FIEX) , will allow the state-owned company to acquire a 30% stake in the company.
This capital injection complements Amper's previous investment and aims to secure initial funding for WindWaves ' technological and industrial deployment . The core of this plan is the construction of new facilities in the Outer Port of A Coruña . This new industrial complex will be capable of manufacturing both fixed and floating structures for offshore wind turbines , intended to meet the growing demand in international markets and significantly strengthen the Spanish company's export capacity.
In addition to the infrastructure in A Coruña, the company's roadmap includes three other key areas of investment. First, the adaptation of the existing facilities in As Somozas to operate as a logistics support center. Second, the implementation of a comprehensive digitalization program for operations . Finally, resources will be allocated to validating industrial-scale processes for the mass production of Rigid Sails , an innovative wind-powered propulsion technology aimed at decarbonizing global maritime transport.
The top executives of both entities have emphasized the importance of this alliance. Enrique López, CEO of Amper, stated that “COFIDES’ investment in WindWaves will maximize investments that will reinforce the Amper Group’s leadership in both fixed and floating offshore wind structures, thus contributing to Europe’s energy independence and strategic autonomy .”
For her part, COFIDES President and CEO Ángela Pérez emphasized the international market: “With this transaction, COFIDES is supporting Amper’s growth through WindWaves , which combines technological innovation with a clear international focus . FIEX’s resources will contribute to developing production capacity in Spain to meet international demand in a strategic sector like offshore wind, while also promoting progress toward European energy transition goals.”
This operation consolidates the international positioning of the Amper Group , a conglomerate with 70 years of history and a presence in more than 20 countries, whose technological and engineering capabilities are a benchmark in the Defense, National Security and Sustainability markets.
