COFIDES has announced a €60 million loan to support Aleatica in the construction, operation, and maintenance of a 77,2-kilometer highway connecting Mexico City with Morelia and Guadalajara . This project will reduce travel time between these cities by up to an hour, the financial institution reported from Madrid on January 30, 2025.
The new infrastructure, known as the Atizapán-Atlacomulco Highway (AT-AT) , is part of a strategic plan to improve road connectivity in Mexico. The project includes the design and construction of a dual carriageway in each direction and several tunnels. This concession was awarded by the Mexican Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation.
This is the second project in which COFIDES and Aleatica collaborate, after supporting the company in the launch of a highway in Peru
COFIDES' Corporate Director of Investments, Miguel Ángel Ladero , highlighted: "At COFIDES, we are pleased to collaborate again with Aleatica on an initiative that will not only improve connectivity in Mexico, but will also boost the economic and social development of the region."
This is the second joint project between COFIDES and Aleatica, following their previous involvement in Peru . In Mexico, Aleatica already manages six additional highways and is actively involved in the Toluca International Airport . This new venture is expected to consolidate one of the country's most important industrial corridors.
The investment is part of the Foreign Investment Fund (FIEX), combined with COFIDES' own resources. The Spanish company aims to strengthen its international presence while contributing to sustainable economic growth in Latin America.
