Ángela Pérez , president and CEO of COFIDES , was in charge of collecting the award from José Zudaire , general manager of Spaincap , in a ceremony that highlighted the fundamental role of the entity in the Spanish financial landscape.
Since its creation in 1988 and the launch of the first operations of the FIEX and FONPYME funds in 2000 , COFIDES has invested more than €5.000 billion. These resources have been key to boosting the internationalization of Spanish companies , consolidating its position as an essential player in the global expansion of the national economy.
In recent years, COFIDES has expanded its functions, assuming new mandates such as assisting FONPRODE and managing the FONREC, FOCO, and FIS funds . This expansion has strengthened its role as a fund manager, generating a positive impact not only on economic growth but also on social and environmental development.
During her speech, Ángela Pérez highlighted that, with over €6.000 billion in assets under management, COFIDES "actively contributes to the development of the private equity sector through direct investment in companies and strategic projects, as well as investment in funds." She added that the entity acts as an "anchor investor, playing a key role in the development and consolidation of the private equity market."
The president of COFIDES expressed her gratitude to Spaincap for the recognition, considering it "an endorsement of the work we do in collaboration with all our stakeholders ." She also gave special thanks "to the entire COFIDES team for their professionalism and daily commitment," and paid heartfelt tribute to all the presidents and teams who preceded her, whose efforts have been fundamental to the company's success. Finally, she thanked the shareholders of COFIDES, a leading public-private financial institution: ICEX, ICO, Banco Santander, BBVA, Banco Sabadell, ENISA, and CAF-Development Bank of Latin America.
