Corruption in Ukraine could hinder Ukraine's European and Euro-Atlantic integration process. US Ambassador to Ukraine John Herbst addressed this issue in Kyiv at the conference "Ensuring Transparency in the Regulation of Small and Medium-Sized Businesses."
John Herbst raised the issue of corruption as one of Ukraine's main problems. He also presented the results of investigations indicating that, according to Ukrainian businesspeople and experts, the level of corruption in Ukraine is "very high." Herbst also noted that Ukraine ranks 111th on the list of the world's 133 most corrupt countries. According to the US ambassador, a successful fight against corruption in Ukraine requires, at a minimum, political will and the mobilization of all sectors of society.
