Desigual grows in international markets, highlighting the American continent and Asia

Unequal has reaffirmed the growth that was already reflected in the 2021 results. The company closed the year with a turnover of 379 million euros (+2,2% compared to the previous year) and a net profit of 3 million euros, which It represents a growth of 15% and reflects a consolidation of profitability during 2022.

 

Among the factors that explain this growth is a notable recovery in activity in the network of own stores during last year, with an increase of 10%. For its part, sales through the digital channel stabilize after two years of continuous increase and currently represent 27% of the company's total turnover.

 

Desigual has continued with its growth strategy in Asian markets, betting on strengthening its presence in China through a joint venture with the Septwolves Industrial Co., Ltd. group.

 

Amongst the international markets The behavior in the American continent and Asia, where the company grew 20%. In Europe, leadership has been Spain and Portugal that have registered a recovery in sales and an increase in turnover of 10%, above countries such as France and Italy.

 

Desigual has continued with its growth strategy in the Asian markets, betting on strengthening its presence in China through a joint venture with the Septwolves Industrial Co., Ltd. group. The agreement, announced in September 2022, aims to achieve a turnover of 40 million euros in five years through digital channels, and also contemplating the opening of flagship stores in Shanghai and Beijing.

 

Investment in process improvement and modernization of the store network

 

Desigual maintained a high rate of investments during 2022, closing the year with a total figure of 28 million euros. “During the 2021-2022 period we accelerated the changes we had been working on, once the impact of COVID and the management of the priorities required by the pandemic had been digested. Already in 2021 we doubled the investment, reaching a total of 33 million, and in 2022 we have once again made a notable investment effort with which to prioritize the renewal of the store network, as well as the logistics and IT processes that have consolidated the performance of the digital channel,” explains Alberto Ojinaga, General Director of Desigual.

 

The company has continued with the renewal of its network of stores globally, with a total of 34 openings and relocations between own stores and franchises, and 16 restylings, most of them concentrated in European markets and in Japan. Currently, 74% of points of sale already have the new image.

 

Among the openings, the two stores stand out Paris and Berlin, in key cities for Desigual's business and located in premium locations and emblematic neighborhoods for fashion consumers in European capitals.
