Ferrovial conquers Texas with a giant photovoltaic project

Clean energy for 36.000 homes

Ferrovial, a leading global infrastructure company, has taken an important step in its commitment to sustainable energy by announcing the acquisition of a 257 MWp photovoltaic project in the county of Leon (Texas). This initiative, which will involve an investment of 72 million dollars, will have the capacity to supply more than 36.000 homes and represents a milestone for the company, since it is its first investment in a renewable project in United States.

The acquisition of the photovoltaic project in Texas marks an important milestone for Ferrovial's Energy division, consolidating its presence in the American marketwhere the company has been operating for 20 years. "This project represents an example of collaboration between stakeholders and private entities to bring reliable and sustainable energy to communities," he emphasized. María José Esteruelas, CEO of Ferrovial Energy. "Our investment confirms the division's strategy of continuing to expand our international presence, focused on regions with the greatest growth in renewables, such as the United States," she added.

The acquisition of the photovoltaic project in Texas by Ferrovial is an important step in its commitment to sustainability and the development of clean energy, contributing to a greener and more sustainable future.

Construction of the photovoltaic park will begin this quarter and it is estimated that it will generate more than 400 jobs in its initial phase. The plant is expected to come into operation in 2026 and, once at full capacity, it will have a production capacity of 475 GWh per year, avoiding the emission of more than 195.000 tons of CO2 equivalent per year.

It should be noted that, in addition to the project in Texas, Ferrovial is also building for its client X-Helium a 72 MWp solar plant with a 60 MW battery energy storage system, located in Houston. This initiative adds to the company's extensive history in the renewable energy sector, where it has developed projects around the world, consolidating itself as a benchmark in the fight against climate change.
