The Barometer of the business climate in Spain from the perspective of the foreign investor, published by ICEX-Invest in Spain, Multinationals with Spain and the International Center for Competitiveness (ICC) of IESE, reveals that foreign companies established in Spain maintain an optimistic view about their future in the country.
The study, which collects the opinion of more than 700 foreign-owned companies, highlights that 89% of these companies expect to increase or maintain their investments in 2025, despite the complex international context. This data reflects the investor confidence in the growth potential of the Spanish economy and the stability of the business climate.
As for turnover forecasts, 87% of the companies surveyed anticipate an increase or maintenance of their sales in 2025, which represents an increase of 9 points compared to the previous year. This figure suggests that Foreign companies in Spain trust in the strength of the domestic market and in the capacity of the Spanish economy to generate business opportunities.
Foreign investors particularly value Spain's infrastructure, market size, human capital, quality of life and labour market.
The Barometer also reveals that foreign companies in Spain have great export potential. 74% of the companies surveyed export to third markets from Spain, and 92% of them expect their foreign sales to grow or remain stable in 2025. This data highlights the importance of Spain as a platform for international trade and the ability of foreign companies to take advantage of the country's competitive advantages.
In terms of employment, 92% of investing companies in Spain plan to maintain or increase their workforce in 2025, which represents an increase of 7 points compared to the estimates for 2024. This data is especially relevant in the current context of economic uncertainty and demonstrates the commitment of foreign companies to job creation in Spain.

As for areas for improvement, foreign companies point to the need to reduce bureaucracy, improve financing and address electricity costs.
