La Spanish export of fresh fruits and vegetables stood at 9,2 million tons and 9.363 million euros until August 2019, 9% more in volume and 4% in value compared to the same period in 2018, according to data updated by the General Directorate of Customs.
The exported volume of vegetables until August 2019 rose to 3,8 million tons, 5% more than in the same period of the previous year, and the value amounted to 3.965 million euros, 12% more, highlighting the performance positive for pepper, with sales of more than 8% in volume and 18% in value, totaling 534.487 tons and 768,5 million euros, and for cabbages, with 19% in volume and value, amounting to 372.933 tons and 393 million euros.
Fruit sales until August stood at 5,4 million tons, 12% more, while the value fell by 0,3%, standing at 5.397 million euros, due to the general decrease in value, especially citrus fruits, the most exported products in this period, and stone fruit. The exporting of peaches, for example, stood at 302.837 tons (+1%) and 299 million euros (-5%) and that of nectarine stood at 322.604 tons (+15%) and 318 million euros (-4,5%). %). Other fruits with significant volumes in this period have been watermelon, with 854.081 tons (+7%) and 391 million euros (-3,5%) and melon with 404.511 tons (+13%) and 287,5 million euros. (+3%).
In the case of red fruits, strawberries are the best sellers with 287.788 tons (+5%) and 580 million euros (+1%), followed by blueberries, with 65.127 tons (+16%) and 322 million euros. (+3%) and raspberries with 52.884 tons (+34%) and 320 million euros (+9%).
