The new hard drives, with an UltraDMA 100 interface (interface speed of 100MB/s), offer capacities of 20, 30, or 40GB, all with a minimum height of 9,5mm, thus optimizing size thanks to the option of up to 20GB per platter. These drives are characterized by their increased durability compared to previous generations. Their shock resistance has been enhanced to reach values of 900G in standby mode and 200G for 2ms in operating mode. This ensures maximum data integrity. The drive rotation speed is 4.200 rpm and the cache memory is 2MB, achieving a data transfer rate of up to 32,5MB/s.
As with the previous generation, Intelligent Power Management allows for greater autonomy of the drives, consuming only 2,3W in operating mode and 0,1W in standby mode. This reduces battery consumption in laptops and increases working time without a power connection.
The new units are quieter than previous models, with a noise level of 2,6 decibels. Finally, the estimated mean time between failures (MTBF) is 300.000 hours.
