Genesal Energy leads the recycling of wind turbine blades with an innovative mobile generator.

 

Genesal Energy, based in Bergondo (A Coruña), reaffirms its position as a leader in distributed energy solutions by introducing equipment capable of operating in complex and remote environments, facilitating the dismantling and processing of wind turbine blades. This generator is essential for powering a diamond wire cutting machine, which cuts the blades into reusable fragments, allowing for their subsequent reuse.

 

The design of the equipment has overcome significant technical challenges to ensure its autonomy, reliability, and low environmental impact. It is compact and soundproofed, mounted on a 2600-type cabin on a trailer, ensuring easy transport and assembly between various wind farms.

 

In line with the most stringent sustainability guidelines, the generator set features an engine that complies with the strict European Stage V emissions regulations, significantly reducing its carbon footprint. It also features a 350-liter tank that provides up to 35 hours of runtime at full load and is equipped with a ComAp InteliLite AMF 25 IL4 control system and a socket panel designed for efficient connection to other equipment.

A Firm Commitment to the Circular Economy

 

This project consolidates Genesal Energy's position as a key player in the energy sector's circular economy. Dismantled blades, traditionally a difficult-to-recycle waste, can now be transformed into new products such as planters, canopies, and street furniture, through a more efficient and environmentally friendly process.

 

Wind turbine blade recycling is undoubtedly one of the major challenges of the energy transition. The complexity of their composite materials has generated a growing volume of waste. According to data from wind Europe, it is estimated that more than 2030 wind turbines will be retired annually in Europe by 5.700, highlighting the urgency of developing sustainable and scalable technologies.

Thanks to this collaboration with GDES Wind, we were able to create a robust and environmentally friendly solution that not only addresses a specific technical need but also actively contributes to the circular economy in the wind energy sector.”
