Historic return of Spain from the Bakuriani 2025 EYOF

 

El European Winter Youth Olympic Festival 2025 (EYOF) has come to an end, and the Spanish delegation has left an indelible mark on the snowy mountains of Bakuriani, GeorgiaWith two gold medals, one silver medal and a diploma, the young Spanish athletes have exceeded all expectations, demonstrating their talent and dedication on the European stage.

 

Unai López: The King of Spanish Snow

 

The name of Unai Lopez will resonate in the history of Spanish sport. The Andalusian rider became the first Spaniard to win a medal at a winter snowboarding FOJE, and not once, but twice! López took home the gold medal in both the slopestyle and big air events, leaving everyone speechless with his skill and style on the board.

 

"It's a dream come true," López declared after his historic victory. "I've worked incredibly hard to get here, and I'm so proud to represent Spain at the top of the podium."

 

Luken Gartiano: The Standard Bearer Who Shined in the Snow

 

Skier Luken Gartiano, who had the honour of being Spain's flag bearer at the closing ceremony, also made the national team shine. He won the silver medal in the slalom event and received a diploma for his sixth place in the giant slalom.

 

“It has been an incredible experience representing my country at these Games,” said Gartiano. “The silver medal is a reward for my effort and dedication, and it motivates me to continue working hard to achieve new goals.”

 

Beyond the Medals: Spanish Talent on the Rise

 

In addition to the medalists, other Spanish athletes also demonstrated their talent in Bakuriani. In alpine skiing, Alvaro del Pino, Valeria Alvarez and Nur Torres They competed with determination in the slalom and giant slalom events. In cross-country skiing, Naia González and Pau Molins challenged the snowy slopes, making clear their passion for this sport. And in figure skating, Noa Seguí and David Escribano showed their grace and skill on the ice.

 

A Legacy for the Future

 

With this outstanding participation in the Bakuriani 2025 EYOF, the Spanish team has raised to eight the total number of medals obtained in the history of these Games. But beyond the medals, these young athletes have left a legacy of effort, dedication and passion for sport, inspiring future generations of Spanish athletes.

 

The next appointment for the winter EYOF will be in the Romanian town of Brașov in 2027. We are sure that the Spanish delegation will continue to achieve success and leave the name of Spain on high!
