IDB concludes meeting in Chile with a focus on reforms and regional integration in the face of global challenges

 

The meeting, which brought together ministers and senior officials from the 48 member countries, served to reaffirm the IDB Impact+ strategy and advance in the capitalization of IDB Invest.

 

The closing of the IDB annual meeting in Santiago de Chile left a clear message: the institution is determined to deepen its reforms and foster greater regional integration. The IDB president, Ilan GoldfajnHe summarized the spirit of the meeting with these words: “This meeting showed that we are flexible and resilient, and that is what makes us strong. (…) That we came together with common interests and supported the strategy implementation process. It has given us the strength to continue working.”

 

The assembly, which brings together the highest authorities of the IDB and IDB Invest, focused on the implementation of the IDB Impact+ strategy, approved the previous year in Punta CanaThis strategy seeks to increase the institution's impact in the region, and one of its pillars is the capitalization of IDB Invest, the organization's financial arm, with $3.500 billion. The deadline for completing capitalization is 2026, but progress is significant: 19 countries have already subscribed to the shares and 14 have reported progress, representing more than 70% of the IDB's votes.
