Islamic Junta signs agreement with SMIIC

Within the framework of the MedaHalal Forum 2018

This agreement implies that the Islamic Board will participate and contribute from its trajectory and experience to the development of halal standards for the OIC countries.

Last Friday, November 23, 2018 Islamic Board signed a cooperation agreement with the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC).

 

The signing of said agreement has been carried out Isabel Romero (President of the Islamic Board) and Ihsan Ovut (General Secretary of SMIIC) in the Medaweek 2018 International Congress where they have met within the framework of the forum MedaHalal 2018.

 

This agreement implies that Islamic Board will participate and contribute from his career and experience to the development of the Halal standards for OIC countries. In addition, the possibility of joint training or research actions between the two entities is contemplated.

 

SMIIC It is an organism driven by Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Created in 2010, it is the entity in charge of the harmonization of standards and metrology. With sixteen technical committees, four of them are on halal. They have also published four halal standards and are a reference entity in the Islamic world.

 

 

 

The signing of this agreement highlights the great effort that the Islamic Junta has made towards the normalization of Islam in Spain.

 

 

 

Islamic Board registered its guarantee mark in 2003 and, since then, has been working through its department Halal Institute in promoting, defending and normalizing the halal concept in Spain.

 

SMIIC has highlighted, prior to the signing, that “Islamic Board did a great job creating Halal Institute to promote the halal concept, protect the rights of Muslim consumers in Spain and that all these actions are in line with the requirements that the OIC has around halal.”

 

With that, Islamic Board becomes one of the two Islamic religious communities in the world that have an agreement of these characteristics with SMIIC, this being an exclusive organization for Muslim-majority countries.

 

For its part, the President of the Islamic Board, Isabel Romero, after thanking SMIIC his trust and recognition, declared that the agreement is “a great opportunity to advance, investigate and normalize not only the aspects related to halal, but all the values ​​that it promotes.”
