Spanish company Ferrovial will build a 250 MW solar megaplant in Texas

Ferrovial, one of the leading global companies in the infrastructure sector, has announced the development of a new 250 MW solar photovoltaic plant in Milam County, TexasThis ambitious project represents an investment of approximately 350 million and will consolidate the firm's presence in the US energy market.

The company will be responsible for all phases of the project, from the construction and operación to maintenance of the plant. With this development, Ferrovial seeks not only to provide stable energy to the Texas power grid, but also promote economic development long-term in the region.

"This project is a clear example of how investment in infrastructure can directly benefit communities," he stressed. María José Esteruelas, CEO of Ferrovial's Energy DivisionEsteruelas stressed the importance of the initiative in a context of growing energy demand: “As data centers multiply and energy needs continue to increase, this plant will bring lasting value to the region thanks to the employment creation, support for local services and the security of energy supply".

Construction work is expected to begin in the coming months, with the forecast of generating around 300 jobs in this first stage. The plant, which is expected to be operational by 2027, will have an annual production capacity of about 450GWh, a quantity sufficient to supply the demand of approximately 43.000 homes.

This new project adds to Ferrovial's already strong portfolio in Texas, where the company already operates a 257 MWp plant in Leon County. Additionally, the firm is nearing completion of another 72 MW photovoltaic plant in the Houston area, in collaboration with its client X-Elio.
