Latvia is becoming a major logistics hub in a region of Europe where trade is increasingly concentrated between the European Union and Russia and other countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), as well as between northern countries like Finland and Estonia and southern countries like Lithuania and Poland. Latvia, in addition to its advantageous geographical location, boasts a significant port infrastructure and transport network. This makes it an ideal location for the establishment of an international multimodal logistics center. Currently, the Latvian company Solo-L has developed a project for such a center, which would encompass a range of value-added services, including warehousing, ocean and land freight, assembly, and others, to leverage trade flows from the EU to Russia and other CIS countries. Solo-L possesses numerous comparative advantages: it is strategically located in the free trade zone of the port of Liepaja and has direct road, sea, and rail access.
