Madrid Chamber of Commerce trains companies in customs management to boost their international competitiveness

 

La Madrid Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Customs Foundation, has launched the "Comprehensive Customs Management Cycle: Value, Origin, Classification and Customs Regimes". This specialized training program, which will be developed in four workshops between February and June, aims to optimize the customs operations of companies and improve their competitiveness in the international markets.

 

The workshops, taught by experts in the field, will address key topics such as determining customs value, certification of the origin of goods, tariff classification and preferential regimes. The content will be practical approach, with analysis of real cases and applied examples, which will allow attendees to avoid overcosts and penalties, take advantage of tariff benefits, optimize logistics processes and reduce dispatch times.

 

"The aim of this training is for participants to optimize their customs operations and improve their competitiveness in international markets," a spokesperson for the Madrid Chamber of Commerce emphasized.

 

Companies that have participated in similar programs have managed to transform their customs management, with results such as a 15% reduction in costs through the correct reclassification of products, the optimization of operations after resolving penalties for valuation errors, and a 40% reduction in clearance times.

 

The workshop series will address the following topics:

 

• Workshop I-Customs Value of Goods (February 25). The first workshop will be led by Ferdinand Salazar, customs inspector on leave. During this session, the process of determining the value of goods for customs purposes, as well as the main valuation methods.

 

• Workshop II-Origin of goods (March 25). Jose Antonio Munoz Royan, head of the AEAT Inspection team, will offer the keys to learning how to Identify and certify the origin of the goods. That is, the country in which the product has been developed.

 

• Workshop III - Tariff Classification (April 29). Imparted by Alvaro Fernandez, coordinator of the tariff area and responsible for classification in the department, this workshop will be key to mastering tariff classification, which is essential for correctly apply tariffs and comply with the international trade regulations.

 

• Workshop IV – Customs Regimes Workshop (June 10). Ferdinand Salazar, a customs inspector on leave, will be in charge of teaching this workshop, which will address the customs regime, an set of rules and legal provisions that control the imports and exports of goods between countries. In addition, the preferential regimes and how to take advantage of them benefits of international agreements all with reduce costs.
