The President of Navarra, María Chivite Navascués, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Chartered Community to the Capabilities and the deepening of ties with China, calling for the building of "stronger and more stable economic and cultural relations" between the two countries. The message was conveyed during the opening of the Conference of European Advanced Manufacturing Companies in Chongqing, within the framework of the official mission of the Navarrese delegation.
In her keynote address, Chivite emphasized that Navarre stands as "one of the most prosperous regions in Spain" thanks to an advanced industrial ecosystem and an economy with a clear focus on internationalization. "Both factors are a source of prosperity that improves people's lives," the president noted, urging everyone to "take advantage of this meeting to strengthen the ties that bind us."
The President also endorsed the recent message from King Felipe VI in ChinaDefending the need for a "world order based on rules, multilateralism, and cooperation," he asserted that both Spain and the European Union maintain a "firm commitment to an international system based on clear rules, transparency, and respect for the law" as the only way to generate trust and shared progress.
The agenda in Chongqing focused on strategic sectors for Navarre, such as clean energy and sustainable mobility. The delegation, accompanied by the Minister of Industry and Ecological Transition, Mikel Irujo, and other representatives, held a key meeting with the CITIC Group, a large Chinese business conglomerate, in order to explore new avenues of collaboration.
In line with the interests of the regional government, President Chivite visited the facilities of Hithium, a company dedicated to the production of batteries for large-scale energy storage, a crucial solution for wind and solar energy.
In the area of clean mobility, the delegation visited the plant of ChanganOne of China's fastest-growing automotive companies, with a production capacity similar to Volkswagen's in Landaben, Navarra, Spain, was visited.
