Post-investment support is key to consolidating long-term foreign investment in Andalusia.

 

The CEO of Andalusia TRADE, Antonio Castro, has emphasized that the post-investment care service, known as aftercare, is "the Andalusian key to consolidating the long-term foreign investmentThese statements were made during the Aftercare Forum, celebrated on Seville On June 4 and 5, an event organized by Cities&Collaboration Ltd, a British entity specialized in this field, in collaboration with Andalucía TRADE.

Castro highlighted that Andalusia has managed to keep divestments at "relatively low" levels in 2024, reaching €68,6 million, representing a 21% decrease compared to 2023. This figure contrasts sharply with the national average, where divestment has experienced a 98,41% increase, amounting to €14.056 billion. "In 2024 we handled more than 70 inquiries from 60 foreign companies established in Andalusia"Castro stated, highlighting the success of the Aftercare service provided by Andalucía TRADE through the Invest in Andalucía initiative.

The Invest in Andalusia initiative is the value proposition of the Ministry of Economy, Finance and European Funds, through Andalusia TRADE, to attract foreign investment to the regionIts services cover all phases of the investment process. From planning, offering accurate information on sector regulations, market and industry status, to advice on finding the best location and obtaining permits. During the implementation phase, Andalucía TRADE organizes meeting agendas and visits for investors to institutions, companies, universities, and potential partners, as well as assisting with permitting and administrative procedures.

 

According to data from the Official Investment Registry of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business, foreign companies are staying in Andalusia.

 

The Aftercare service is distinguished by its personalized approach, providing continuous monitoring of projects for established multinational companies, preparing specific proposals for their parent companies, and advising on potential expansion plans in the region. Antonio Castro emphasized that Aftercare must be "a cross-cutting service" and have "a multidisciplinary team capable of addressing the diverse needs of investors." To this end, Andalucía TRADE offers a team of over 300 professionals specializing in various areas, from finance to foreign trade and business development.

Foreign Companies Choose Andalusia to Remain

 

Data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Enterprise's Official Investment Registry confirm that foreign companies are choosing to remain in Andalusia. In 2024, divestment in the region remained low (€68,6 million), representing a 21% decrease compared to 2023. This brought net investment to €769 million, a 51% increase over the previous year.

 

These results are reinforced by the Andalusia Business Climate Barometer 2024, which reveals that 87% of the foreign companies surveyed plan to increase or maintain their investments in Andalusia in 2025. Likewise, 84% expect to increase their turnover, 89% their employment and 62% their exports.

 

Andalusia is experiencing a boom in investment attraction. The Investment Registry recorded €837 million in 2024, the second-best figure of the last decade, surpassed only by 2022. This represents 41% growth compared to 2023 and 20% above the annual average of the last decade. Andalusia's growth in 2024 was more than double that of Spain, which also had its second-best year, but with growth 21,7 percentage points below the Andalusian region.

 

The 2019-2024 six-year period closes with a historic record of foreign investment, reaching €5.026 billion. This figure almost doubles the figure recorded in the 2013-2018 six-year period (€2.641 billion) and exceeds the previous best six-year period (54-2007, with €2012 billion) by 3.265%.
