Proposals to promote the internationalization of Spanish companies

More ambitious goals are being demanded of the public administration.

The Spanish Exporters and Investors Club demands that in the next legislature the internationalization of the economy become a State policy and that the competitiveness of Spanish companies be guaranteed with respect to their European counterparts.

As regards the financial instruments In support of internationalization, the Club calls on the public administration to set more ambitious objectives and implement more streamlined mechanisms. It also proposes that the Spanish companies participate in the implementation of cooperation projects financed by Spain, as is the case in other countries in the region. Furthermore, it is suggested that the creation of a public financial institution that jointly manages existing funds for internationalization and cooperation, and that could provide SMEs with financing, pre-financing and guarantees.

 

From the perspective of economic diplomacy, the development of a White paper on foreign economic and trade policyThis document must involve all the state's economic authorities. It should outline an action plan with a clear vision and specific objectives, backed by the necessary financial resources for its implementation.

 

Among other measures relating to economic diplomacy, the Club proposes strengthening economic and commercial offices and opening new ones in regions with high potential for economic development and where the Spanish presence is limited, such as the Sub-Saharan Africa.

 

According to the Club, in the area of ​​promotion and information, it is necessary to increase the budget allocation of ICEX - Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade, to enhance the generation of business intelligence for medium and large-sized companies, to promote the international mobility of young Spanish graduates, and to contribute to training to improve innovation and brand management and to adopt new techniques in international business.
