Exporting with the right strategic information allows companies to make more informed and effective decisions. However, in a changing global environment, up-to-date territorial and business intelligence becomes a decisive competitive advantage.
The conference, held at the Madrid Chamber of Commerce, addressed how to identify economic patterns and detect warning signs that might go unnoticed in a superficial assessment.
Sectoral Analysis and Economic Context The first part of the day, focused on sectoral analysis, was introduced by Juan Ortín , Deputy Director of the DBK Sectoral Observatory at INFORMA. Ortín emphasized the importance of understanding the overall landscape of the Spanish foreign trade sector.
“In my presentation, I will address the main data and trends in Spain’s foreign trade , delving into the aspects that have been shaping its evolution in recent years,” Ortín explained . He noted that he would also discuss “the main short- and medium-term forecasts, within the current context of geopolitical and tariff uncertainty.” His objective, he concluded, was “to provide an assessment of Spain’s foreign trade sector,” identifying sectors that have benefited and the most dynamic geographical areas in terms of exports.
The Impact of Geopolitics Next, Ricardo Gómez Laorga , Principal Investigator at the Complutense University, focused on the unavoidable geopolitical factor that currently conditions any internationalization strategy.
“Today, my objective at this magnificent event is to explain the main geopolitical dynamics that are either already unfolding or whose momentum indicates they will occur in the future,” stated Gómez Laorga . In his analysis, he indicated that he would provide “a very brief and concise overview of conflicts such as the one currently between Ukraine and Russia in Eastern Europe, [and] the one developing in the Levantine Mediterranean region between Israel, Palestine, and other actors.” He also discussed the future of organizations like the European Union and NATO , “which are directly or indirectly involved in these types of events.”
Geomarketing as a strategic solution The second part of the day was led by Silvia Banchini , Commercial and Operations Director of inAtlas, who presented the practical tools of geomarketing to face this uncertainty.
“Today, here at the Chamber of Commerce , INATLAS and the Informa group will present solutions that can help companies facing an uncertain international landscape,” Banchini commented . The goal is “to provide them with qualitative information to understand and choose the best strategy for internationalization and to explore alternative markets.”
Banchini explained the solution they offer: "geospatial intelligence with qualitative data from over 600 million companies covered by Dun & Bradstreet and databases of tariff transactions. What we really aim to do is provide certainty in knowing who is selling my product, at what price, who is buying it, and in which country."
