Sacyr Proyecta strengthens its presence in Belgium with a new contract for the Zeebrugge LNG terminal.

 

The Spanish company Sacyr Projects has been awarded a contract by Fluxys for the development of services FEED (Front End Engineering Design) at the LNG terminal of Zeebrugge, located in BelgiumThis project covers the engineering for the implementation of new seawater vaporizers (ORV), along with its associated bombs, and a innovative collection box in the port facilities of the terminal.

 

The main objective of this initiative is significantly reduce CO₂ emissions of the terminal, while maintaining its shipping capacity. This action is part of the strategic program of Fluxys to achieve the goal of net zero emissions in all its operations.

 

The relationship between Sacyr Projects y Fluxys spans more than a decade and a half, during which the Spanish company has participated in various crucial projects for the development of LNG facilities in Fluxys and the consequent reduction of its carbon footprint.

 

In the past, Sacyr Projects has played a key role in expanding the regasification capacity of the plant ZeebruggeSince 2011, the company has been involved in the engineering design for the construction of the fifth LNG tank, with a capacity of 180.000 m³, and a second dock Designed to manage loading, unloading and transfer operations between vessels of different sizes, from 700 m³ to the giant 217.000 m³ Q-Flex.

 

 

This new contract focuses on engineering for the installation of innovative systems that seek to reduce CO₂ emissions and move towards net-zero emissions in the plant's operations.

 

 

During the construction phase (EPC) between 2013 and 2020, Sacyr Projects acted as Property Engineering (PMC) all with Fluxys, leading the construction of the fifth tank, the management facilities Boil Off Gas (BOG) and the second berthing pier, demonstrating its comprehensive capacity for large energy infrastructure projects.

 

More recently, in 2023, Sacyr Projects An EPCM project was completed that increased the regasification capacity of the LNG plant to 2,6 million Nm³/h. In parallel, the installation of the new seawater vaporizers began, which not only allow the reduction of CO₂ emissions, but also add new LNG truck loading stations, underscoring the ongoing commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency.
