EXPANSION STRATEGY IN LATIN AMERICA
The Spanish book sector is consolidating its international presence by hosting the 28th edition of what is considered the third most important book fair in the world. This milestone represents a key commercial and strategic platform for facilitating professional exchange and direct contact with consumers in one of the most dynamic markets in Latin America.
The Brazilian metropolis will host, among the September 4 and 13, 2026, a new edition of the São Paulo International Book BiennialAn event that this time will have a distinctly Spanish flavor. National participation as Guest Country of Honor will be co-organized by Spanish Cultural Action (AC/E) and the Ministry of Culture, an institutional alliance designed to maximize business opportunities and the visibility of Spanish literature abroad.
To capitalize on this opportunity in the Brazilian market, Spain will replicate the successful commercial and cultural model it has already implemented at recent top-tier international trade fairs, such as Frankfurt, Guadalajara and BogotáThe Spanish delegation will have a remarkable infrastructure: a pavilion of up to Sqm 500 which will be located in the area with the highest traffic and greatest importance of the fairgrounds.
This strategic space will not be limited to simply showcasing current publishing and literary offerings, but will function as a genuine business and promotional hub. The facilities will host a packed schedule combining activities for the general public—such as author meet-and-greets and panel discussions—with professional meetings focused on promoting exports and the sale of rights.
At an operational level, the execution of this ambitious project will fall to Acción Cultural EspañolaThe public entity will be responsible for managing and paying the participation fee, as well as leading the design, construction, and overall production of the pavilion. AC/E will also be responsible for developing the graphic identity, the corporate communication strategy, and the technical coordination of the event, always working closely with the Ministry of Culture.
The objective of this significant public investment is clear. As the organization emphasizes, this joint institutional effort aims to "to strengthen cultural ties between Spain and Brazil, promoting the Capabilities from our authors and the Spanish publishing industry in the global context»A firm commitment to consolidating foreign trade in the creative industries sector.
