40,8% of the companies surveyed identified political uncertainty as the greatest risk to the national economy, a factor that could hinder investment and consumption.
However, despite this uncertain environment, optimism prevails in internal business prospects . More than half of Spanish companies face the next two years with positive expectations: 54% anticipate favorable performance in 2025, and 52,2% maintain that forecast for 2026. This optimism is more pronounced in larger companies and in key sectors such as services, construction, tourism, hospitality, and restaurants.
In fact, business resilience is reflected in current results: almost eight out of ten companies (77,3%) report having met or exceeded their expectations this year. Looking ahead, nearly 50% of companies expect an increase in their sales in Spain by 2026, and 44,5% project an increase in their exports.
Rising labor costs, tax pressure, and labor shortages are the main risks identified by companies for their activity.
Although the overall outlook is positive, the business roadmap is marked by significant operational challenges. Rising labor costs are the main current difficulty for 40,6% of companies, a concern projected to be the greatest future risk (43,1%), closely followed by tax pressure (37,3%) and the shortage of suitable professional profiles (33,5%). Labor shortages are already identified as a problem by 38,7% of companies.
José Luis Bonet , president of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the "adaptability and resilience" of the business community during the presentation of the study. "The socio-political situation, rising labor costs, and tax pressure are real concerns, but the determination of businesses will be fundamental to facing these challenges and moving towards a more competitive and modern economy," Bonet stated.

In the area of recovery, awareness of the Next Generation EU funds continues to rise, reaching 62,6% of companies in 2025, an increase of 2 percentage points compared to the previous year. 44,1% of companies know how to access this aid, and among those that have already applied for funds (24,5%), the experience is mostly satisfactory, with 67,1% responding positively.
