Spanish nutraceuticals conquer Asia with record participation at Vitafoods 2025

With a total of 21 companies, this is the fourth time Spain has presented an official pavilion, marking a notable increase from the six companies that attended in 2022. The fair, which concludes today, is one of the world's leading showcases for ingredients, supplements, and functional nutrition.

The presence of ICEX Spain Export and Investments It is key to this expansion, as it not only increases companies' visibility in a highly competitive market, but also facilitates access to new contacts and markets. This institutional support allows even small and medium-sized businesses to benefit from a more powerful promotional platform, thus boosting their export capacity.

Innovation and challenges at the table

The success of the Spanish sector is based on a solid value proposition that combines the scientific innovation with high quality in production processes, complying with certifications such as GMP, ISO and EFSAIts products are distinguished by advanced formulations that incorporate natural ingredients of Mediterranean origin, complete traceability, and a significant investment in R&D.

However, the path to internationalization is not without challenges. The sector faces increasing regulatory pressure in the European Union, the need to scientifically validate the benefits of their products, and intense international competition, especially on price. At the export level, companies often struggle with difficulty accessing reliable information on specific markets, a lack of key contacts with local distributors, and a shortage of specialized foreign trade talent.

To overcome these barriers, ICEX implements various support strategies, such as up-to-date market intelligence, customized agendas, and participation in strategic trade shows to generate business connections. It also offers training and talent acquisition programs to boost companies' global expansion.

International promotion calendar

Participation in Vitafoods Asia is part of a broader international promotion strategy. This year, the sector was also present at Vitafoods Europe, with a pavilion that hosted 41 exhibitors. In addition, in preparation for the event in Thailand, a B2B event was held in Bangkok From June 23 to 27, seven Spanish companies met with local distributors and agents.

In addition to the trade fairs, regulatory information sessions are regularly organized in key markets, such as the talks that will take place on September 24th on nutraceutical regulations in Egypt, Canada, the United States, and China.
