Statkraft acquires Enerfín and places itself in the Top 10 Spanish wind energy sector

A step forward in the energy transition

With this operation, Statkraft adds 1.500 MW of wind energy to its existing portfolio in Spain, which already amounted to 1.600 MW.

Statkraft, the main producer of renewable energy in Europe and leader in the long-term power purchase agreements (PPA) market, has closed the acquisition of Enerfin, the renewable subsidiary of Elecnor Group. This operation makes Statkraft one of the 10 main wind players in Spain, with a portfolio of more than 3 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy.

 

The acquisition of Enerfín by Statkraft consolidates the company's position as a key player in the Spanish energy market. With this operation, Statkraft adds 1.500 MW of wind energy to its existing portfolio in Spain, which already amounted to 1.600 MW. This means that the company now has the capacity to generate clean, affordable energy for more than 480.000 Spanish homes each year.

 

At a global level, the acquisition of Enerfín also represents an important leap for Statkraft. In addition to being in the Top 10 wind power industry in Spain, the company also becomes one of the top 10 wind power players in Brazil

 

The acquisition also brings with it a significant increase in the Statkraft team in Spain, with more than 250 employees. Statkraft will maintain its current headquarters in Valencia, with offices also in Madrid. The company has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to Spain and the country's transition towards a more sustainable energy model

Divestment in selected markets

As previously announced, Statkraft plans to divest Enerfín's portfolio in Canada, United States, Colombia, Australia and Chile. Statkraft is committed to finding new owners who can create even more value by developing the business in these regions.
